Impeachment Replays

William Mattox, of the James Madison Institute, has an interesting idea.

An acquittal should allow a president to run for a third term.

Not a bad one, either.

I wonder if Clinton would have won a third term, and if so been President on 9/11? What a different world that would be.

I suspect he would have been, and yes it would be.

KSM made it clear what would have happened if the US had treated the 9/11 attacks as a mere law-enforcement matter, as Clinton clearly would have done. Gore, too.

*IF* the Republicans had pursued impeachment. Would they have if that was in the mix? I'm not so sure.

and, if they hadn't. perhaps he would not have even won a second term...

We might also not see the current impeachment moves, which don't have the goal of impeachment but merely to extend the Progressive-Democrat smear so as to prejudice the 2020 election. Imagine the heads exploding were Trump to win a third term.

'Course, the present smear would continue essentially unchanged, only lacking Pelosi's "formal impeachment inquiry" label.

And there would develop lots of other ways, by either party, to weasel word their way around actual impeachment while still seeking to paralyze the hated President of the other party.
