Insurrection Act

The President didn’t say it in so many words, but whoever wrote the speech knows what he just said satisfies the terms for invoking the 2002 version of the 1807 Insurrection Act. Of course, there is in fact an insurrection ongoing, but it’s still worth marking. Battle-hardened paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne will soon be deploying to American cities.

Have faith in them. They took the same oath we did.

Sending in actual Army units is overkill, and especially dangerous in this political and "journalist" environment. We need him reelected (IMNSHO) for the sake of the courts and of foreign policy, and we need Republican control of both Houses of Congress, if only to block for four more years the destruction the Progressive-Democrats will wreak.

The National Guards of the various States are adequate to the task, and if the Progressive-Democrat Governors, and one or two excessively timid East Coast Republican Governors, don't act, those Guard units can be Federalized and employed.

Separately, a Raleigh police chief badly wants termination for her violation of her oath of office and her wilful dereliction of duty. She's an insult to Raleigh's police department.

After blocking 4 years, then what... surrender to soros and declare freedom of speech?

In 4 years, the world will not be what is known.

I could certainly be wrong but my SWAG is they are being prepared to deploy to DC since DC AFAIK wouldn't have National Guard units to supplement police, and everything else is just bluster ala some of Trump's C19 claims. I've seen at least one report that the Secret Service is getting pushed pretty hard trying to protect the White House, and given the attacks on Federal monuments and other DC locations, they are probably needed.

Pence will need to go norad as backup. In case dc and trum goes jfk.

DC actually does have its own Guard - https://dc.ng.mil/

I don't see what regular army units will do that NG won't, unless your NG units sympathize with the protestors because they're local or something. Outside of that, if they have the same ROE, then what difference do we expect?

From the DC Guard's Web site https://dc.ng.mil/Components/ :

Unlike the 54 state/territorial National Guards that are subordinated to their respective state governments, until called to service by the President of the United States, the D.C. National Guard is subordinate solely to the President of the United States. This authority to activate the D.C. National Guard has been delegated, by the President, to the Secretary of Defense and further delegated to the Secretary of the Army.

I can see the Progressive-Democrats' and NLMSM's collective heads exploding when they find out the Evil Trump has his own private army right there next to him. Praetorian Guard, I tell you.

Having been with regulars who were replaced by National Guard in Iraq, I can tell you that it really does make a difference that the regulars are full time soldiers. Also, the 82nd has been deploying/refitting constantly since 9/11. They're battle hardened paratroopers.

National Guard units are wonderful things, don't get me wrong. For some applications they're really even better than the regulars; it can be helpful that Sergeant Jones is a mayor and Colonel Smith runs a hardware store most of the time. That often gives them greater capabilities than a regular unit made up mostly of 19-26 year-olds who've never done anything else.

But when you need to shoot, the fact that they've spent their whole adult lives shooting or training to shoot makes a difference.
