To love something implies loving its source, and the things that tend to make it flourish; but this also implies hating those things that tend to be harmful or destructive to the beloved thing (as well as its opposites, if it has them). A total bar on 'hate speech' would thus seem to prevent people from defending what they love.

I now regard the accusation of hate speech as hate speech.
