Rest in Peace, Mr. Buffett

I remember first hearing this one playing on the radio in the family car when I was a kid. It gave us all a laugh and I've enjoyed his music ever since.

A couple of lesser-known hits that might describe some of us here

About his father, a tall ship sailor ... and the hidden track

Some others I like

Yeah, and I guess this one has to be played

I had no idea that you were such a fan of Jimmy Buffet, Tom. My condolences on your loss.

I worked 3 years for an entrepreneur in one of his money-making projects. He was a big Jimmy Buffet fan. He bought front row seats at Jimmy Buffet concerts.

Could he make money? He did on the one I worked on. He got his start when he made about $100 mil on O&G leases in the Gulf during the oil price crash in the '80s, when oil had gone down to $10/BBL, after $40 not long before.

Some people say that the big advantage of the elite schools is the connections you make there. His experience supports that claim, as the seed money for his project came from wealthy heirs he met at Harvard Business School.

Thanks, Grim. No personal connection as such, but his music has been part of my life for almost as long as I can remember.

Gringo, that's very interesting. There's nothing in his bio about going to Harvard. Was he just hanging out there, or is this some dark secret he's been keeping from us? :-D

Mike, I've never actually listened to that one. Guess I'll have to. Thanks for the link.

Just reading some of his obits / bios this weekend and found out that a newly-discovered species of crustacean was named after him just this year, Gnathia jimmybuffetti.

Tom, the person who could make money and went to Harvard Business School was my entrepreneur employer/Jimmy Buffet fan, not Jimmy Buffet. I'm sorry I didn't previously make that clear.
But that's what happens with rambling comments.

Though it appears that both Jimmy Buffet and my former employer were pretty successful as entrepreneurs. Jimmy Buffet just sang about being wasted away in Margaritaville; he didn't experience it very much.

Aha! That makes sense.

Yeah, he was definitely the hardest working beach bum I've ever heard of. His net worth was something around $1 billion when he passed, or so I've heard.
