Actually a good showing by law enforcement. There are way more of us than there are of them, so they are more than carrying their weight. As they should.
But it illustrates nicely the reason for an armed citizenry.
An important difference is that law enforcement is responding, mostly, whereas armed citizens are often there at the time of the incident. I know from experience that it takes a while for emergency response personnel to stage up and deploy, so the citizens who stop these things are kind of doing a double service by cutting the shooting short.
