1883

I am only a few episodes into this, but I cannot recommend it strongly enough. It’s a work of real, substantial beauty.

The same guy makes the two best series on TV. I am eagerly awaiting the new seasons of both 1883 and Yellowstone. I do not think I have ever seen better TV, and I remember Sid Caesar and Martha Rae, and Steve Allen...

They are both good, but of tremendously different character. Yellowstone is a drama about family and change. 1883 is a titanic work of art. It is one of the best Westerns ever made, which is akin to saying that it ranks with the greatest operas and novels. I can’t remember the last time I saw something so honest and beautiful. After last night’s viewing, my wife said she felt honored to be able to see it.
