Yesterday's "Parting Glass" introduce me to RTE - Raidió Teilifís Éireann, or Radio Television Ireland, which seems like their version of NPR. Here's another from them:

At first I thought this was a banjo. And it doesn't quite sound like a lute, nor does it look to be strung like one. What is the instrument?

Looks like it's double-strung, like a mandolin.
