Ice

If I lived somewhere that wouldn't instantly melt them, I'd definitely try these.

I have made ice candles for outdoor use many times, usually much bigger and plainer, to be used along the walkway. There is a significant difficulty in that they blow out in any wind more than a 10mph gust.

The children and grandchildren have never been as appreciative of them as the amount of work to make them would warrant. When everything goes right however, and you can stand and admire a dozen of them set on top of a snowbank, or on a porch table with greenery like the ones pictured, they are lovely.

My reaction was similar- why go to all that bother?
But they are pretty.

Frankly, if I lived somewhere where this sort of thing didn't quickly melt, I'd move.

They really are a cool idea, in both senses, but they're no more worth the cold than is taking a room in an ice hotel.

Those are made of ice? That's kind of fun.
