Okay, only the oldest daughter wears the crown of lights these days, they get that on and off pretty quickly. I'm guessing they did in the old days, too. No one wants to burn the farm down.

Yeah, you're right that she was badly overdoing it. But she was, you know, badly overdoing it. That was the joke as much as anything else. :)
I just don't want any urban legends...
