Jeez, that was tripe. I don't buy it one bit. And the real divide is urban vs. not-urban.

Guess what? This isn't 421BC, and the cities don't "control" the countryside. Forget about Red state and blue state, Look at red county and blue county.

There will be no "civil war". It couldn't happen.

It's generally worth reading Thucydides, but I agree that the comparison drawn was very weak.

The sad thing is, Thucydides did have worthwhile things to say on this subject that might be read with profit if only the focus had been on the concept of stasis rather than Athens/Sparta! >_<
