Years ago, while researching my Father in laws infantry service, I exchanged emails with a French woman who had adopted the graves of some GI's in Normandy. She and her sons had "adopted" six graves. She said she was teaching her young sons to appreciate and never forget the men who came so far to fight and die, so they could be free.
