The tune to "Star of the County Down" is one of the three tunes Thomas Tallis included in his 16th-century study. That particular tune is called "Kingsolver," and it's perhaps the most common tune you hear sung in church for the lyrics "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say," a sort of sprightly jig. But the tune in both of my links is the "third mode" of the Thomas Tallis work, much slower and sadder. It's No. 142 in the Episcopal hymnal. It's also pretty familiar as Ralph Vaughn Williams's "Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis."

Interesting! I know the words very well, but sing them to a melody derived from the same source as "Star of the County Down."
