Republicans notice
The MSM has suddenly decided to cover the Obama treason story, but in the David Burge sense: covering it with a blanket until it stop moving. The first stories I've seen appeared last night and this morning in the WSJ and NYT, with the time-honored "without evidence" modifiers. Both are behind paywalls, so I won't attempt to link. The gist is that the GOP needs a distraction from Epstein and made up a story out of whole cloth for the purpose. I mean, who would do such a thing? Showing extra courage, the WSJ left off any comment link.

Burge. But you are otherwise likely spot on in your suspicions. This is an attempt to change the subject and get Republicans to be distracted into making comments they don't need to, which can in turn be attacked on other grounds.
Keep your eye on the prize. Observe the evidence as it comes in and decide whether it is enough.
DNI Gabbard did another drop in response to Obama today. I don't think they'll be able to ignore the story much longer.
I suspect it will be child's play, like ignoring the Hunter laptop.
