I’ve been a little busy lately, and it’s no surprise that I have lost track of time. Still, we ought to mark the anniversary of the brutal attack of last year, when perfectly innocent people were killed by Hamas in what amounts to an act of blood magic, an attempt to conjure a final reckoning with Israel and probably an attempt to bring about the end of the world— to provoke the End Times according to their particular theory of Islamic eschatology.

Michael Ledeen in the early 00's thought we should have gone to war with Iran instead of both Afghanistan and Iraq. Could be.
Early on, some thought establishing ourselves in both Iraq and Afghanistan might have been the prelude to a pincer on Iran, but it doesn't seem to have come to anything.

Yes, or an attempt to hem them in, but ineffective at best. Certainly, if they felt threatened, it only emboldened them rather than dissuaded them. Actual head to head war with Iran would be an ugly business.
