I've noticed a spate of that recently too. Sometimes I just close the browser (Firefox) and re-start it, sometimes it takes a full hard re-boot. Frustrating.
Happened to me last night; I use the current version of Firefox. After the second try with the OP Failed notice, I closed the comment tab, waited a few seconds, and tried again. My comment went in just fine.
Usually, at least in my experience, it's just the rogue electron getting in the way, and then going away.

That happened to me as well. I switched browsers and it worked.
I get that a lot. Sometimes it works if I just try it several times. Sometimes switching off my VPN helps.
