Dad moved to Atlanta in the early 1970s to work for Southern Bell after he got out of the Army. These are the kind of songs he would have heard there at that time.
You mean Del Reeves? I hadn’t thought of it, but he was stationed in California during his service in the Air Force. It’s possible that he was at least influenced by the same things that produced it. The timing is about right.
