Riding through Panthertown

The Panthertown Wilderness borders Lake Toxaway, and US 64.

Many years ago, I helped build a custom log cabin that over looked Panthertown Wilderness. It was up on Laurel Knob.

To get there, you take a left off US64 below Cashiers NC and go up to the crest of the mountain, take a right on the gravel road and drive until you run into the forestry service gate. That is the entrance to the valley and the Panthertown Wilderness. I remember when we were building the cabin, during a March snowstorm, we had over 4 feet of snow up there. Mt. Pisgah had 5 feet of snow from the same storm and there was about 3 feet of snow in Sylva NC. I don't remember what Bryson City had.

The gravel road was Breedlove Road, IIRC.

That looks like a really nice ride. Here in the PNW the weather has turned hard into sideways rain.
