The Veterans' Exempt flag is hard to hang because the canton needs to go the same way as it would on an American flag, but that puts it out of order with all the other flags. The American flag is hung at its own right, with its canton on its own right.

I'm sure you have a good reason, so I want to ask, why can't the other flags just be turned around?

If you turn them around, Tom, the lettering is backwards.
If you blow up the pic you can see. The 1812 flag’s letters look like they’re in a mirror. It’s either that or face the canton the opposite direction of the others.
Ah yes. And, duh. I should have blown it up.

US Navy
US Marines
US Air Force
US Space Force
US Coast Guard
US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps
US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps (formerly US Geodetic Survey)
People generally forget the last two, even Wiki doesn't know about NOAA.
If you were draft eligible during the Vietnamese War, you might have known about the USPHS and USGS. Service in any of the eight uniformed services counted as your military obligation. A friend of mine served as a Capt. in the USPHS at Ft. Huachuac, Arizona.
Around here, (Dallas, DFW, North Texas...) the black and white POW flag ("You are Not Forgotten") flutters from a lot of flagpoles. Sometimes, even, without the flag of Texas itself on the pole.
Yes, here too. The Post Office, for example, always flies the US and POW flags but not the state flag.
It would be perfectly fine to turn the Veteran's exempt flag, just as the Culpepper flag is displayed. It's not the American flag (even if somewhat derivative), so the code does not apply to it any more than the Culpepper.
You really do have a slice of paradise over there.
