I wonder how he thinks that talk with God is going to go.

He seems very confident, doesn't he?

I remember as a child asking our minister to explain all this talk about "God-fearing." I had been told, by him and others at the church, that God was all-forgiving and loving, and that no matter what you'd done he would still love you and would forgive you if only you asked. What exactly were we supposed to fear?

Sadly I can't remember the answer I got, except that it turned on how God was presented very differently in the Old and New Testaments.

With regard to God being presented very differently in the Old and New Testaments, I always want to say, "Well, yes, but then there are the money lenders in the Temple. That was very Old Testament."

Yeah, that was harsh. But if God specifically tells you not to do something and you do it ...
