California's new governor promises "Sanctuary to all that shall seek it." New York City promises "comprehensive health care for all."

Leaving apart the problem of building any kind of community with a constantly shifting population who shares neither common values nor history nor even a common tongue, did I sleep through the part where economic scarcity was finally overcome?

That part is the Trump presidency!! Technically, "scarcity" is not overcome, but the current prosperity is tempting to the Socialists, obviously.

California is looking at a budget surplus, and the politicians are dizzy at the prospect of spending it. Of course, future dips in intake, long-term failure to maintain infrastructure and the long-term problem with entitlements are not part of their calculations.

Instead, the new governor wants to expand medical entitlements to illegal aliens.
