I wonder how they moved them. I've always wondered about the handles--pottery can be strong in compression, but not so much in tension. One paper ( https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10.1086/727261 ) mentioned that a scribed "X" appeared on some defective amphora. Maybe those were not good enough for liquids, but OK for light-weight dry goods?
