Here's the 13 minute Sing, Sing, Sing that Goodman's group did a controlled jam of at Carnegie Hall. Gene Krupa drove the jam.

For a couple of drum solos, try these two. The first isn't swing, but boogie woogie by an Austrian father-daughter pair. Interesting, to me, anyway, is the idea of drums doing some of the baseline when she's not in her solo jam.

This one is "just" a drum solo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ09DJp5xPA What to do during it? Enjoy her being the music, not just playing it well. And enjoy a Bitburger.
One more thing, Tom, regarding the Carnegie Hall Sing, Sing, Sing: the YouTube version above is a cleaned up version. Amazon sells another version on, CD with the same cover as the YouTube excerpt, that has the entire concert, that's cut from the original reel to reel tapes that were found in Goodman's attic a few years after that concert.
It has all the squeaks and static that the tech of the day had, but the music still is very clear and enjoyable. It's for those who are as audiophile-y and geeky as I sometimes get.

What do you do during those lo-o-ong drum solos?
Grab a sip of your martini or a puff of your cigarette. Or just hang on your partner for a rest.
Thanks for these - they brightened up my day.
Ah, that's my problem! I don't drink gin, and I don't smoke cigs. No wonder I'm lost during the drum solos.
I'm glad you enjoyed them!

Thanks, Eric! Amazing stuff. I'll have to look for that Carnegie Hall recording.
I am sensing a theme of what to do during the drum solos -- don't dance!
Tom,
Well, there's this form of dance, which tends toward rhythmic percussion....

I have no hope of dancing like that, either, no matter my hopes and dreams.

Thanks for telling me that. It sounds like it's a good disc.
