Sleep With No Doors Open

There’s a lot of training in the Fire Service; I often spend weekends or weeknights in classes and courses. Some of it is challenging and rewarding; some of it is not. Occasionally it’s just PowerPoint presentations or training videos we are required to watch. These rarely interest.

This little training video might actually be of use to some of you, however.

Oxygen is a big deal

Convincing video. Besides fire, there are other reasons to have a good bedroom door. Home invasions.

Very good video. We used to keep the doors open when the kids were babies, but after that, it was always doors closed.

One interesting tangential fact is that we're probably less worried about fires as there are a lot less of them than there used to be- largely because of better building code and enforcement. Still, I live in the same house I grew up in, and in that time, I've seen two houses in our tract burn, and one just outside our tract, so it's still not so rare as to not warrant concern. I appreciated when Cub Scouts had a requirement for some belt loop to discuss fire safety and an evacuation plan with your family, it was a useful reminder/excuse.
