This lovely 5-ish-year-old dog languished in my county's animal shelter for a full year. For some reason they couldn't get anyone interested in her, but she lives with me now. A seemingly mild-mannered affectionate creature, she's getting along with my two dogs just fine so far.

How nice. I am also seeking a dog.

Gay muzzle a sign of age, or a trick of the lighting?

Too many older pets are abandoned in animal shelters rather than adopted. Glad this one found a loving home.

Nice, and congratulations. Dogs are God's gift to man - I just took my two for a 4 mile walk through some extremely dry forest.

The basis for the guess of five years is the state of her teeth. Her muzzle does look pretty gray, but teeth are usually a better guide. Since they picked her up on the street a year ago, we have no info about her early life except that she was unspayed and heartworm positive--both of those problems solved now. I'm guessing she was not awfully abused, though, because she's quite sweet and trusting. Although she was nicely treated in the shelter, realistically she can't have been getting too awfully much company or training there. She didn't entirely understand the concept of walking at heel but nevertheless did pretty well on this morning's long walk with a bit of coaching.

Grim, good luck choosing your dog. Will you go to a shelter, do you think?

Perhaps. I adopted a Shepherd last year but had to give him away because he took a persistent dislike to my son and kept attacking him. I gave him to a friend from the Fire Department.

This is good work supporting god s own soul fragments that are pets. These pet souls will graduate faster to human caliber with a close and supporting relationship with a race in the 3rd density of solar of civilization aka humans.

I and god approve.
