I first heard this in the movie
We Were Soldiers.
Wikipedia says that it was written about Sgt. Charles MacKenzie, who served in the
Seaforth Highlanders in WWI. He was killed in combat at the age of 33. It was written in Scots, and
here is a standard English translation.

I needed the translation! I could make out a lot of it, but needed help with a few words.
