Jim Hanson (formerly "Uncle Jimbo" of BLACKFIVE fame) has a piece on the failure of Iran to extend itself across the Levant. Their strategic situation has become much worse thanks to the Trump administration, even apart from the Suleimani killing.
An aside- I had to chuckle a bit when I saw he'd dropped the "Uncle Jimbo" nickname from his twitter account, presumably because such doesn't fly well in think tank world. Would be better if it did. C'est la vie, pick your battles.

Yeah, he’s cleaned up his act a lot the last few years. Good for him, although I liked the old Jimbo too.
Time and place for everything.
It's important that voices like those at SSG get heard in thank tank world, so definitely worth it.
