According to what I've read. You understand, this is after the various (mostly unknown nowadays) campaigns in Ireland, guns became the go-to weapon. This may also reflect the English 'volunteers' that kept showing up in Dutch Service and took their habits (and arms) back to England.
If the archer doesn't get his pants shortened, he's going to go head-over-teakettles before he can do any damage to anyone besides himself. LittleRed1
I was gonna say... those pants are hemmed suitable for fairly high heels, and he's barefoot. (Barefoot???)
