...but not literally. The Atlantic makes a distinction between the press and those who attend Trump's rallies in how they are taking him. The press doesn't take him seriously, only literally. The people at his rallies turn that around.

That they don't take him seriously can be shown by their inattentiveness to what he actually says. They pay no attention, and then substitute w story line from their minds for actual quotes. As a result, they cannot take him literally, because they literally get the words wrong.
The US press might as well be Al Jazeera and AQ to me.
The idea that people now claim that I or others should back Trum because we shouldn't believe media lies is a little funny. After all, some of us actually could think without watching the MSewerM before 2012.
Over the last six months I have become almost a caricature of what I always thought of as a "don't know, don't care" citizen. I barely follow the news. I wonder if that puts me in a better position to gauge the state of mind of likely voters? It's a kind of impenetrable disgust, revulsion, and rejection of everything these clowns do and say--starting with the press. It's got to stop. Citizens can't get away with permanently disengaging like this. To compensate, I have tried to get a little more involved in strictly local politics, but it's not enough. Anyway, I'll still vote; I'm not that far gone.
