I was really a big fan of this kind of trans-cultural music in college too. Different stuff, though. I wish I could remember more of it now. Here's something.
I've got Clegg's album with Savuka, "Shadow Man" around here somewhere. "Take my heart away" was the 'hit' from that album.
I used to like listening to Ravi Shankar when we were cranking through all nighters in architecture school. The tempo and build up was good to work by.
While I'm thinking of world music, there's an album by the Chieftains- "The Chieftains in China" where they were on your in China and did a mixture of Irish and Chinese musical selections in collaboration with a Chinese group. It's a great album. Couldn't find anything from the album on YouTube directly, but <a href="https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=38s4mVY2b_YYY>this is them playing a song from that album.<\a>

That's some great stuff.
I got this album in high school and loved it as well. Thanks for reminding me of it.
