Beset with salads on every side, Part II

Personally I'm all for salads, but I prefer the old-fashioned way of describing them to the sort of style that's de rigueur now:  "According to NASA’s research, fresh vegetables 'could have a positive impact on people’s moods.'"

In most of the science fiction I've ever read, someone was growing veggies somewhere on the spaceship.  It's got to beat MREs.

It was the one thing people really wanted to eat at the DFAC when they got to Victory Base Complex after a long time in the field.

One of the weirder things about Cherryh's Merchanter universe is that nobody seems to grow veggies aboard ship. One character is dubious when he's on a different ship with a different cook and finds green stuff in his food... but figures it's probably OK because the ship's cook keeps a clean kitchen.

I know lots of people who seriously object to eating vegetables. I'm no vegetarian by a long stretch, but I'm happy with several vegetable dishes for every one containing meat. Can't imagine not liking vegetables at all.

I enjoy vegetarian restaurants sometimes, just because it's the often the only way to find a menu with more than about 5% attention given to veggies. The money clearly is in offering up the protein. I love a restaurant that routinely offers 8-10 choices of vegetables.

The Spousal One and I have been eating a few vegetarian meals a week. It helps a lot with controlling your weight as you get older, too.

I was a vegetarian for a few years in my late 30s when we lived in California. I have rarely in my life felt better (that said, I love meat - roast lamb, chicken, beef, pork).

I'm trying out a new service that sends you a box every week (I ordered the vegan one) with recipes plus everything you need to make the meal - all pre-measured. I'm actually kind of excited about it. Not sure if we'll keep using it, but I figured it was worth a try.

Weird. That's the second time today a comment has posted twice.
