Schlepping

I enjoyed this article about the adaptation of transport to the lack of paved roads, especially this photograph of windbarrows, which could move large loads on a narrow path:

I've been quarrying a lot of quartz off my property and then ferrying the boulders by hand, because of the effect of the Summer of Constant Torrential Downpours on my driveway. All the work is being done by (my) hand, including smashing up the new gravel with a sledgehammer once I get it in place.

Getting the big rocks uphill and overland is by far the hardest part of the project. Anything that would make that part of the process easier would be welcome, provided it can be done on my zero budget.

We stepped a mast in our kayaks. Can't be that hard in a wheelbarrow.
