It's even worse in countries where semi literate farmers have unlimited access to pesticides. One province in China had to pollinate their entire apple crop by hand last year. It could happen here.
Honeybees, mason bees, and bumblebees put half to one third of the food on your plate, and they ar all in trouble. This is EVERYBODY'S problem.

Perhaps we ought to have fields of the native weeds and grasses to feed the bees that are un-sprayed, kept adjacent to the hives and the cash crops, since they don't feed on the cash crop pollen, apparently.

Well, bummer, that link didn't work either. However, reading Bob and douglas' comments, I get the gist of the article. And Bob is right, this is everybody's problem.
