Riding the Park

Saw baby elk near this bull. They have white spots like a fawn. Lots of energy for a big creature like an elk.

Newfound Gap.

The Little River.

UPDATE:

Baby elk.

Same view of Newfound Gap by evening.

Picnicking.

You live in lovely country! Early fall is a wonderful time to ride. Love crunching leaves and crisp air.

After my recent re-location, that's a little over 3 hrs away. Does explain all the motorcycle traffic this past weekend, though.

Roughly where did you end up, Sly?

I wound up in southern Kentucky, with the VEA's (no longer a Student, now a full grown Adult) family, not too far from where my family is originally from. If I'd known sooner, and knew you'd be there, I'd have considered the drive down to get a chance to finally meet after all these years.

Fair enough. This time of year I don’t know where I’ll be very far out: we weren’t sure we wouldn’t have a tropical storm that day until the morning of.

And we do have today! Just the outer bands of one, as it turns out, but it's rained all day long.

And we were sunny and 86! Which resulted in quite a bit of bike traffic by the house. Perhaps, if you're feeling up for a good ride, you can consider a trip up this direction sometime. The road that goes by my house is really quite a beautiful ride. (And leads straight to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, I might add.) My original offer of a good steak, a few beers, and good conversation holds. 0>;~}
