If any of you happen to be gay, allow me to convey that I don't have anything against it; indeed, the longer I live with a woman the more I can see the appeal. It's just not in me, you know?

C'mon, some of the humor of jokes is their fraughtiness.

I guess you are right. I rarely attempt jokes for that reason.
As with anything else. it's a matter of knowing your audience and knowing your purpose.

I must have gotten that part wrong. My sense of humor is not reliably popular.
I've been in the Hall for a few years. I've not seen any occasion when you got some bit of humor wrong.
I'm sure it's happened; none of us tell stirling humor things every time. But among men and women of good will, even a bad joke will be written off as just a joke that turned out to be not funny but taken in the manner it was offered.
Those of bad will aren't worth worrying about regarding humor.
