The one I think about most, though, is this one. The first time I saw it, it seemed almost cruelly flippant; but the longer I live, the more I agree with his companion's conclusion. "He's right, boys. The best thing you can do with Death is ride off from it."
Now we ride off from his. Dust to dust.

I didn't see a lot of his movies: Godfather and The Apostle. I don't remember much from the first, but he did a good job with Apostle.
At our house, we mostly think of him as Hub McCann from Secondhand Lions. Several of my kids made note of his passing.
Yeah, that’s the movie my wife wanted to watch tonight.
He was the best. You can't take your eyes off him.
It's a good one.

It appears we're in the middle of the next round of three. Yesterday Duvall, today Jesse Jackson. Who is going to be number three?
Hmmmm. One actor, one activist, so ... the next will be an archaeologist? Archivist? Architect? Advisor? Anarchist? Archbishop?

I just read that Duvall used to say that most of his Hollywood colleagues would do well to read some Thomas Sowell and some Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I never knew that about him, bless him. Even if I'd detested his politics, though, I couldn't have helped revere him as an actor. He much such an impact as Boo Radley that I didn't remember his character never said a word.
He was variously said to be a Republican or a Libertarian. Ollie North liked him; they had property close together at The Plains, VA, where Duvall died.
