A Two-Fire Night

Even Conan wanted in when it hit -4 with wind chill. I have a fire in the wood burning furnace and another in this beautiful fireplace that I don’t use often enough. Today’s the day, though.

UPDATE:

To Raven's point.

I can't tell what kind of swinging door that is on the fireplace, but the glass type provide a lot more heat, because less air gets drawn up the chimney from the far corners of your house. It can fool you because it's not as warm right in front of a bare fire.

Saw a temp of 18F in Atlanta this AM.

Up here, dog owners actually buy sweaters for their pooches before taking them out in 0F (or less) temps.

Sheesh.

@ Dad29. My wife bought a parka for our new mixed terrier up here in NH. I don't put it on her when I walk her and she romps happily, doesn't want to come in. Remember the joke that a sweater is a garment that a child puts on when its mother is cold?

Why is the cat not in front of the fire? Did it's ancestors neglect it's learning?
It is written in the Tomes of Old that any cat, having access to a warm fire, shall immediately commandeer said fire and install itself in such a manner as to block all others. This is the law.
