Another Day of Glory

It only lasts a few weeks, but it is something to see.

The Devil’s Courthouse from NC 215.

Balsam Lake, where bald eagles nest in the spring.

Mt. Pisgah to the left, part of the National Forest also named Pisgah below.

Gorgeous. My wife insisted we come up to Mammoth in the Sierras for fall colors this year- I had never been up here this time of year in almost 50 years of coming up here. Spectacular. Not nearly as extensive as what you get, but glorious none the less. Maybe I'll post some pics.

Our fall colors are starting to appear. Late October - early November is the usual time, depending on the first freeze and temperatures. We don't have any red trees, aside from planted red oaks and a few Bradford pears [boo, hiss]. Yellow and gold predominate. The native grasses turn varying shades of tan and brown, rippling in the wind like tawny fur on the land.
