Heroes and Volunteers

The WSJ:
A volunteer firefighter died saving his family from the shots fired by Trump’s would-be assassin.

Here is their major citation, which unlike the Journal is not behind a paywall.

Following the link, which is from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, I came across this article.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:More details emerge about Thomas Crooks, the Bethel Park man who tried to assassinate Donald Trump
Sandy Kovalik lives just two doors up the road from the Crooks family house. “I always go for walks and never see anyone outside,” she said.
Another neighbor, who only wanted to be identified by her first name Amy, said the only time she saw someone at the Crooks’ house was when someone was cutting the grass.

A family of recluses, it would appear. The surname of Kovalik rang a bell. I had come across some far-lefty article by Dan Kovalik, in that paper, and was also made aware of some far-lefty books he had written. ADV Google Search: dan kovalik @Pittsburgh Post-gazette

Dan Kovalic home page

Dan Kovalik calls himself a "human rights activist." He's also an attorney. I call him a crazy lefty. Who else but a crazy left would defend Chavista Venezuela?

There is most likely no connection between Thomas Crooks and Dan Kovalik, just that a neighbor has the same surname. Given that both are in the Pittsburgh area, it is quite possible that Dan Kovalik and Thomas Crooks's neighbor Sandy Kovalik may be relatives.

I read that his widow refused to take a call from the President. Small wonder.

I believe I posted yesterday a comment here based on another article I had found from your Pittsburgh Post-Gazette link. My comment has disappeared. What gives?

I checked and the Google-run blog had automatically marked it as spam, after having left it published for some time. I have manually restored it.
