The Virginia legislature's Black Caucus contains a lie right in its name. It's the Black Leftist Caucus, and no black Republicans need apply. Virginia's new black state representative aired the sad state of affairs on the floor of the House, saying:
Maybe I need to start my own caucus, the Virginia Non-Leftist Black Caucus. Right now it’ll be a caucus of one but that’s okay. As Thoreau said "Any man more right than his neighbors constitutes a majority of one already."

Seems pretty straightforward. If you ain't prepared to promote the policies, priorities, and preferences of Joe Biden, then you ain't, uhm, part of the caucus.
This, at least, according to the current occupant of the White House.
"The only purpose of our club is to exclude others from membership"
In some ways I wish he would have gone on the offensive and announced that he wasn't even going to ask for membership on the grounds that he was elected to represent all the people of his district, only the people of his district, and that it's time to stop dividing by race. It might have looked like a bit of sour grapes but what was the VA CBC gonna say, we weren't going to let him in anyway?
"There ya go being reasonable again. We've warned you about that."
