Who had simultaneous Gulf Coast tropical storm landfalls for August?

I've heard there is a movement afoot to use 2020 as a swear word:

What the 2020 are you doing? We're totally 2020ed!

Sounds reasonable to me.

As of this morning, Laura has swung slightly to the west. I'm very sorry for Louisiana but very grateful our half-built house is no longer in the cone.

Some of my students use 2020 as a swear word. None of the faculty comment (as we usually do).

No, I don't have hurricanes for August. I think I've got "stampede of feral radioactive wild hogs through Washington DC" for October, and *checks notes for bookie* oh yes, "Shark attack on Devil's Lake, ND" for September.

As of this morning, the two storms are officially crossing their streams. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyaLZHiJJnE And that would be bad.

Like the reference.

It seems the likelihood of some hyper-bad scenario of two storms 'joining' are unlikely, unless it develops a Fujiwara effect, but it's also unlikely to fully develop that-
"For what it’s worth, no, hurricanes cannot merge or combine their powers like Planeteers. If one is much stronger than the other, the weaker system will be sheared out; if they are of roughly equal size and intensity, they may begin to rotate around a common point halfway between the storms, known as the Fujiwara effect"

I"m hoping one will shear the other out- that would be the best case.

I was told a few months ago that the storm season was going to be rather intense this year.

Did I forget to tell anyone? Oh well.

Storms don't really affect me much. If I tell them to go away, they tend to go away.

Then we'll go with that then.
