Also, apparently yesterday was an anniversary or something.

In addition, Guy Fawkes Day is coming up on November 5. Remember, remember The fifth of November Gunpowder Treason and Plot
Interesting to have November 5, coupled with Luther's 95 theses on October 31, coupled with All Saints' Day on November 1. There's a holiday for everyone.
I suspect that reactions to the Gunpowder Plot were largely responsible for centuries of anti-Catholic sentiment both in the UK and in the US.
I love that anarchists have seized upon Guy Fawkes as a heroic figure, when he literally wanted a religious revolution, and not some kind of proto-anarchy. But then, I should never be surprised that people who believe "like, there ought to be no law, man" haven't really paid much attention to anything.
Gringo, my understanding is that the Gunpowder Plot is part of it, but it goes back to Queen Elizabeth I and some pronouncements about her, plus the (canard) belief that Jesuits taught a doctrine that allowed Catholics to lie under oath. Catholics could not be trusted to be loyal to the crown, or to anyone but the Pope. And then there's the Black Legend from South America, and...
Probably something to do with that list. Religion is like politics. Figure out the factions and the con, and even the reason why France betrayed Jean De Arc to the French allies of Britain, makes sense.
The Church of England is one State religion. The Vatican is another. Of course they would conflict. And the Jesuits aren't the worst faction, that would be the Dominicans that came fresh from torturing Albigensians as demon worshippers. In reality, they were just killing other Christian saints.
As prophesied. The Patriarch of Rome specifically sent 3 Dominican expert torturers to Scotland, because they wanted the Knights Templars to be captured and interrogated, to force a confession under Inquisition laws.
The English and the Scottish refused to torture their own or just found the whole setup annoying. Scotland became the repository of the exiled Knights Templar on the run. About the last tone.
The Knights Hospitalers were based on the Island of Malta, and apparently there are some very strong spiritual and occult ruins there. The Vatican takes care to take over these magic sites and build churches on top of them, monopolizing the sites.
