Ow, I think I've crossed paths with two of those reviewers. "If the author rewrites the manuscript to cover a different area, a different time period, and uses a different methodology, this would be an excellent contribution to the field . . ." And the ever delightful, "Get rid of the creative bits," with the next reviewer saying, "The creative bits were the best part of the manuscript. Expand on them."
When I was a freshman in high school, my goal was to become a historian. Subsequent encounters with history in high school changed my mind. One reason I decided to not go into history was my seeing how ignorant verbiage spewers could easily gain the upper hand in history classes. This posting is but one more illustration of ignorant verbiage spewers in the field of history.
