I wish these guys well in their new firms.

Imagine engaging a lawyer from a firm that might force your lawyer to drop your case if they don't like your politics, or the politics of your case.

And yet apparently it makes perfect sense to clients who are primarily interested in ensuring that they're associated with the "right sort" of law firm. Their shareholders should be revolting, but maybe the tribal issue is paramount with most of them as well.

And honestly, they don't really believe it could ever happen to them.

William Barr claims that the reason President Trump couldn't retain competent counsel was that he had a reputation for stiffing lawyers on their bills, and refused Barr's advice to put a $30MM election-litigation retainer in escrow. I'd hate to think that of President Trump, but I guess I'd be happier having to swallow that conclusion than I have been in knowing that nearly every law firm in the country declined to take on a politically fraught case for the "wrong" tribe. That is a horrifying state of affairs.

You can add Foley and Lardner (known as "Folly and Lardbucket" back in the '60's) to your file of lawfirms with only the "correct" lawyers. After Cleta Mitchell, their partner in D.C., sided with Trump in active discussions following the Fraud of '20, she was summarily dismissed, too.
