I've been lurking for a few months; this is probably my first comment. I made hot buttered rum for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was a similar recipe, using a bar of butter, 2/3 cup brown sugar, 3/4 cup spiced rum, etc., and was marked as "4 servings". I live alone. I poured about a third of the ultimate mix into a coffee cup and drank up, over a space of several minutes. Hm. Not bad. I had another cup. Was considering finishing the mix off, but noticed my stomach felt a little odd. Then I remembered that I had just poured 2/3 of a bar of butter into my stomach. No wonder it felt odd. No nausea, no hangover, fortunately, but the next time I make this, I'll not be alone, or will stop at TWO servings. Proceed with due caution.

Yes, even one tablespoon of butter per serving is a LOT of butter.
Welcome to the Hall.
