Back in the paleolithic, I lived across the river from the Colt factory, it's blue onion dome standing tall. A gift from the Czar, IIRC. Hard to believe at that time Colt was a valued member of Connecticut industrial power. The whole state, and Massachusetts too, were centers of the arms trade and every other type of industrial manufacturing, machine tool production, etc. Before the onslaught of idiocy know as progressiveness, the Wadsworth Anthaneam in Hartford had a superb permanent exhibition of Colts history. It is no longer on display and would not surprise me a bit if it has been de-accessioned.
if you ever get a itch to go to Cody, Wyoming, the Buffalo Bill museum is a must see- there are three, the Firearms museum, the Western Art Museum, and the Native American museum. And the bike riding around there is great, up in the mountains. Bring a big bore handgun if camping, there is no shortage of grizzly bears. I love the mountain west!

It’s sad to watch. I went to the museum at the NRA HQ once. It was really something. I wonder how long it will be able to remain in Virginia.

The Autry Museum of Western Heritage here in L.A. has a pretty nice gun room, believe it or not.
