Maybe Ash Wednesday isn't the best day to showcase a proudly heathen band, but I do like this music. Although the band seems to have some connection to the Netherlands, its vocalists are Northmen of various sorts, channeling the old culture.
I think this is probably exactly the right place for a pagan heathen band on Ash Wednesday. Anywhere else would either be hostile to the pagan/heathen aspects, or the Christian ones.
Germany north is awash in death metal, black metal, etc. One wouldn't think it, given Scandinavian milksop 21st C culture, but it does suggest the old vim is still accessible if needed. Svalbard has more death metal bands per thousand people than anywhere else.
