Victims of Journalism

Journalists, of course.
“...using journalistic techniques to target journalists and news organizations as retribution for — or as a warning not to pursue — coverage critical of the president is fundamentally different from the well-established role of the news media in scrutinizing people in positions of power,” wrote reporters Jeremy Peters and Kenneth Vogel.

Can there be any further question of the fundamental dishonesty of the NLMSM in general, or of the NYT in particular?

They also stand in clear opposition to Rule #4. When it suits them.

A: Watch out, boys! They're using journalistic techniques!

B: The fiends! How dare they?

I assume they mean "investigating things."

1. This isn't being used as a threat. No one is being arrested, or rounded up, or doxxed, or bullied. It's just reporting.

2. Even if it were threatening, that wouldn't be much of a problem. If you go public with information about how you think the Board of Selectmen is a bunch of corrupt damfools, you should expect that someone is going to mention that you are behind in your property tax. That may not have much bearing on what the Selectmen are like, but it does illustrate how reliable you are, and is fair game.

It's merely Orthodox to expect that they should all prove to be scoundrels. It's not like that isn't the usual condition of Mankind. I myself fall from perfection in many ways; perhaps I don't even seek perfection, and have grown content with many sins.

The power of confession is partly in redemption, but it is also partly in being honest with yourself. Sun Tzu says that the reliable victor will be the one who knows himself as well as his enemy; Socrates says that knowing yourself is the foundation of a worthy life. If you can't confess your flaws, you'll never get to worth -- let alone victory. Even the most self-interested man should be interested in victory.

Americans have a hard time looking at the flaws in the mirror. ALthough that's not anything exceptional. The Human Race is the same way from this pov.
