There's a lot to learn from Homer, and the Greeks generally. But that's preaching to the choir here.

I love it more with every passing year--even though I couldn't be deafer to whatever it tells us about military strategy or tactics.

Mostly leadership. I doubt Odysseus' blinding of Polyphemus holds many practical applications for a modern rifle platoon. Unless they get trapped in a cave with a hungry cyclops, I guess.
