Waiting to fly out of AVL airport today, I saw an F-22 launch from this non-military field. The airport bartender said she’s been seeing a lot of them just lately. Even more Chinooks.
That is suggestive. Not definitive, but suggestive.

We have the Donaldson Center Airport that is used by Lockheed Martin for F-16 production and maintenance, as well as being a cargo hub for the upstate area.
I see entries on reddit regarding this, some going back 4 years. One thing in common is the Snowbird MOA (military operating area). https://www.reddit.com/r/asheville/comments/13fx6q8/2x_f18s_and_3x_ah60s_by_the_airport/
Also, this YT channel is a bit related to this talk of military aviation: https://www.youtube.com/@pdgls
He might have been on an instrument ride to a strange field for a check ride, or maybe he was on a cross country to visit his folks in the area. Running low on fuel is not a career enhancing action. Of course, it's WAY better than running OUT of fuel. juvat

Interesting. Maybe he was on an exercise and got low on fuel.
