If say, Walmart, has a sign up and then enforces it to disarm you, then they can be held negligible or accountable if you suffer harm. But if you voluntarily disarm yourself due to a non government, non enforceable sign... heh. See, the lawyers already checked this. That's why so many companies use those signs. It's harmless.
Now, if somebody could operate a sting like Veritas or Gaystapo, and get some entity to actually enforce the gun free zone, and then damages were to occur, that would be entirely different. That would be a gotcha. Then damages would apply because the gun free sign entity did or did not do something that led to the disarmament.
But this is very unlikely. The corporate lawyers directly tell their liable companies not to enforce the signs and to make them un enforceable. What is even more likely is that a mass casualty event happens afterwards. Now an employee might be fired as a result of this, but it would require some instigation.

Many people with my marital status (married!!) have developed "selective hearing."
I have developed "selective vision." Utilization of this faculty allows me to NOT see stupid signs.
